The Crash

February 27, 2001

Boom! It all happened so quick. I was struck on the drivers side hard by a black truck. Glass shattered and it fell around me like gravel. The impact caved in the door and my left leg snapped. I remembered my head smacking against the side of the window. I felt dizzy and in pain. I knew something wasn’t right about me. The blood was everywhere. running down the side of my face all sticky. I saw a man pounding on my windshield. “Are you Okay?” he yelled.

The black truck had spun to face the opposite direction. The young male driver lay partially in the car and on the front hood as blood poured from his head. A middle-aged woman opened the passenger door and asked if I was okay. I tried to talk, but the words didn’t come as I felt myself blacking out.

I heard sirens and men yelling for help. People pulled and tugged at my lifeless body as if I were a rag doll. A bright light shone and I encountered a naked man bathed in golden light. “Do not worry. Consider it a gift.”
